Add

Adds whatever you wire in — numbers, records, or both. Fluidly inserts one for you when a second wire meets a port.

PortSideWhat it carries
inInAny number of numbers or records; every wire on this port is added.
outOutThe sum — a number if only numbers came in, records if any records did.

What you choose

Nothing, most of the time. Wire in what belongs together and Add sums it.

The one choice appears only when a number meets records, and it sits on the card: how the number goes in.

  • Balance mode (the default) — adds the number once, to the balance. The whole line moves up by that amount, as if you had that much more on the day.
  • Amount mode — adds the number to every row. It compounds through the balance, so use it when the number really is per row.

The card spells out the figure — adds 8,283.21 to the balance — so you see what will happen before you choose.

What Fluidly decides

Add adapts to what arrives.

What you connect What comes out
Numbers Their sum, as a number.
Records One set of records, every row kept, with the balances added together.
Records and numbers The records, with the numbers folded in as chosen above.

The name follows the wires: two inputs labelled Nordea and SEB make an Add called Nordea + SEB, and that name travels on to whatever comes next.

When Fluidly adds one for you

Wire a second source into a Timeline, Number, Forecast, FX Rates, Bank cost or Calendar, and Fluidly places an Add in front of it and wires both through it. A third wire joins the same Add. It is an ordinary component: rename it, move it, or take it apart.

What it warns about

  • mixed currencies — the inputs are in different currencies, and Add does not convert. Put an FX Rates in front of the ones that need it.
  • Bands combined — two forecasts with the same levels are added worst with worst, as if they move together. That is the widest honest reading, and the card says so.
  • Bands summed without one — forecasts whose bands do not line up are added as plain lines. The money is right; the fan is gone, and the card tells you.

Example

Bank Account (Nordea) → Add → Timeline, with Bank Account (SEB) → Add: the group's cash in one line, day by day.
