Text box
Words, pictures and live figures on the canvas. You write; anything wired in stays current by itself.
| Port | Side | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
in | In | Optional. Any number, records or structure — each wire becomes a live figure in the text. |
out | Out | What the text box holds — a number, text, or the records of a table written in it. |
What you choose
What to write. Open the text box with the pencil or a double-click and type. Headings, alignment, links and tables — including a ready-made date and amount table — are on the toolbar that appears while you write. Markdown pasted in keeps its shape.
Live figures
Wire any port into a text box and its value lands in the text where you are writing, and keeps up from then on. A number reads as a number in the sentence — Cash today: SEK 4,210,000 — and records or a structure sit as a block of their own. Delete the figure from the text and its wire goes with it.
Text boxes are how a dashboard gets its prose: a line of commentary with this month's figure in the middle of it.
Pictures
Paste an image straight into a text box — a logo, a country outline, a screenshot of a contract clause. Images up to 5 MB are accepted. Drop an image file on empty canvas and you get a text box holding it.
What Fluidly decides
What the text box sends on depends on what is in it.
| What it holds | What goes out |
|---|---|
| Ordinary text | the text |
| A single figure | a number |
| A table with dates and amounts | records — sorted by date, with a balance column worked out if the table has none |
When Fluidly has to change a table to make records of it, it rewrites the table on the card, so what you read is what goes downstream.
Appearance
The card's ⋯ menu holds the look: opacity, and a handwritten style for notes that should read
as notes.
Example
Bank Account → Text box: the account's balance inside a sentence of your own. Text box (a small table of planned payments) → Add, alongside a Bank Account: today's cash with the payments you already know about.
