Act

Play Sound

Plays a short tune when its trigger turns on. You write the tune on the card.

PortSideWhat it carries
triggerInThe on/off that plays the tune, once each time it turns on. If nothing is wired to it, it stays silent.
sequenceInOptional. A number whose digits play as notes, in place of the tune on the card.
doneOutTurns on when the tune has finished playing.

What you choose

The tune. The card is a small step sequencer: two octaves, ten steps. Click cells to light them, Clear to start again. Choose the sound — harp, bell, grand, choir and others — the speed in beats per minute, and a major or minor scale.

Press the space bar while editing the card to hear it.

What Fluidly decides

The tune plays once each time the trigger turns on, and not again until it has gone off and come back on.

Wire a number to sequence and its digits become the tune: 1 is the lowest note on the grid, 5 the highest, and longer numbers play longer tunes. The grid dims to show it is no longer in charge. A balance that plays as a melody is not a report, but you will hear when it moves.

Where you hear it

The sound plays in the browser, on the canvas. You hear it where the flow is open, not on a phone in your pocket. For anything that must reach you, use an Email.

Done

done turns on when the tune has finished, so Play Sound can also pause a chain: wire done to the next action and it waits for the last note.

Example

Bank Account (transactions) → Change trigger → Play Sound: a bell on the trading floor each time money lands.
